NCHS Horsemanship Challenge
Riders show Round 1 with a horse they bring and then swap with another rider to perform Round 2 with a new horse! Class is judged on horsemanship. Join the fun in either the W/T/C or Walk/Trot sections!
NEW this year - the Walk and Trot only Horsemanship Challenge!
Each rider MUST provide a suitable lesson type horse to be used in the event, the horse should be able to be ridden by a variety of riders and WT or WTC on both leads and diagonals. The rider will use the horse they brought in the first round (any signs of unsafe behavior by the horse will result in entry being excused). Round 2 is where each rider will ride a horse they have never ridden. Riders cannot cross between WT and WTC divisions BUT a horse may cross enter with different riders. Show or work bridles are allowed. Each horse needs a suitable girth (pad if necessary).
FORMAT: First round riders ride their horse and perform on the rail.
Riders will draw a horse they have not ridden for the second round and again perform on the rail. The horse may be any breed. Top 10 ribbons will be awarded and a Champion and Reserve Champion. This is considered a “Special Event” therefore academy riders are eligible if they are advanced and able to handle various horses.
FEE: Entry fee for this class is $100 per rider - Class proceeds donated to our Charity - The Northland Therapeutic Riding Center
